Robocop 'steals' the show

Titan, a 10ft high ‘Robo-Cop style’ security guard of the future stole the show at this year’s Retail Risk Awards at the King Power Stadium, Leicester on October 6.

Celebrating the best of retail risk and loss prevention, the evening provided a unique opportunity for the industry to recognise the retailers, teams, vendors and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry in 2016.

Titan was the guest star of The Cardinal Group which went on to secure the Vendor of the Year Award at the industry ‘Oscars’. 

Paul Bessant, Founder of Retail Knowledge said this year saw a greater number of entries from retailers and vendors based in both the UK and overseas than ever before. In fact 2016 is probably the most hotly contested Awards to date.

The winners of the evening included the Concept Tag by Agon in the Best Newcomer category while the Most Innovative in-store product was secured by Checkpoint Systems for its Evolve-Store concept. The Most Innovative In-store Surveillance award went to Kings Intelligence Service (KIS) by Kings Security.

The Most innovative online product was secured by GBG Connexus by GBG while the Most Innovative Cross-functional Product was won by River Island/Nedap for !D Cloud. Highly Commended in this category was Non-confrontational interviewing by Wicklander-Zulawski Europe.

The Best Collaborative Solution category was won by ORIS Forums while the Crime Partnership of the Year award was won by the National Business Crime Solution (NBCS).

The Rising Star Award winner was Debbie McDonald from Scotmid profit protection team.

Sue Fish, the ACC for Business Crime at Nottinghamshire Police secured the Retail Risk Hall of Fame Award for her collaborative work with the business community. 

The Risk and Loss Prevention Team of the Year – In-store, was won by the GAP loss prevention team and Superdry secured the Online Team of the Year award in the same category.

The Risk and Loss Prevention Director of the Year award was won by Mike Marshall, Yodel while Tim Edwards of JD Sports was highly commended.
