RETAIL ENVIRONMENT

Free-to-use Pandemic Response Hub

The medical definition of a ‘synapse’ is the neurological meeting point where a nervous impulse passes from one neuron to another – or in laymen’s terms, a transmission of live-affirming data, communication or intelligence on which to base what could be life-changing decisions.

So, in these difficult times, it’s not surprising that Synapse is also the chosen name of a unique Pandemic Response hub, a business continuity and resilience touch point created by specialist software business Zinc Systems in order to assist retailers and other organisations to bring different strands of COVID-19 intelligence together in one place.

Delivered free-of-charge, the Synapse Pandemic Response Hub provides situational awareness and resources sourced directly from the World Health Organisation, the UK Government, official agencies and open source communities providing up-to-the-minute data about the impact of the Coronavirus on everyday life.

UK-based Zinc, which provides case and incident management platforms as well as powering Security Operation Centres (SOC) for a number of leading retailers, has now also launched Synapse ‘Lite’, a solution for customers who find themselves with no technology to manage operations remotely.

As an agile platform, the technology provides new pandemic workflows that enable data on COVID-19 to be captured quickly and for operations to be controlled remotely. It also provides case management for affected staff,  the logging of updates, tasks and decisions, disruption management, mass notification and alerts, as well as Human Resource Management.

Zinc Systems has also worked with the NHS and healthcare organisations to launch a revolutionary PPE monitoring, recording and compliance system. Featuring video guides, cloud-based record keeping and integrated reporting,  the platform helps to ensure that the organisations and their employees are confident, competent and compliant in all things PPE.

“This is part of our approach to enable businesses to be prepared, make better decisions and take quicker action to protect business, people and communities,” said Joe Zielinski, CEO of Zinc Systems.

“This unprecedented time has emphasised many things that as business leaders we will take on board in order to shape the future of our organisations - the importance of having resilient business continuity plans being one.

“Here at Zinc, it’s not just about the technology – we’re passionate about helping organisations and our communities become more resilient. If we can do that, we can have peace of mind that communities can get on with the job of living, and organisations can get on with the job of doing business.”
